Letters to the Mayor

2016.01.08-02.21 Taipei/03.25-04.24 Taichung

A healthy urban development is established upon the effective communications among political leaders, professionals and civics. As an architect, the role between government and civics, it is his/her privilege and responsibility as well to raise the voice for people to deliver his/her concerns or propose a better solution for the city. This exhibition, Letters to Mayor, was launched in New York in 2014 and invited architects from different countries to write down their visions and ideas of the future city to the political leaders.

In 2016, JUT Foundation is honored to introduce this international exhibition to the viewers in Taipei and Taichung, collecting 95 written letters from both international and local architects, including Andou Tadao, Winy Maas and Marco Casagrande, to present architects observations, concerns and proposals to the cities in Taiwan. Moreover, each letter would be sent to the mayors in paper, expecting a positive influence on the future political decision. Besides, visitors are encouraged to leave their messages and thoughts on the wall in response to the city issues. Some selective plans in Taiwan for city regeneration are also presented in the exhibit, guiding the visitors to discover the creative corners around them.
